Buffers and water quality: establishes streamside plantings of trees shrubs. and grasses to reduce soil erosion, improve water duality by lessening levels of nitrates and pesticides. and increase wildlife habitat. over 1 495 000 trees and shrubs have been planted at over 200 sites.

Communities: encourages community tree planting and care for energy efficiency purposes and protecting and restoring the environment. since the program began over 138 000 volunteers have planted over 1 193 000 trees.

Education: provides education and outreach to support and promote sustainable environment and volunteerism.

Roadways: assists small communities and rural counties with implementing landscape projects that use native trees, grasses, and wildflowers. 115 communities have participated in the visioning process and 290 have completed projects involving over 108 000 volunteers.
