FAMILY SERVICES COMMUNITY CENTERS PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL, RECREATIONAL AND OTHER SUPPORT ACTIVITIES THAT ASSIST TO DEVELOP THE BASIC LIFE SKILLS NEEDED TO ACHIEVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY THEY ALSO SERVE AS CENTRAL GATHERING PLACES FOR COMMUNITY EVENTS SUCH AS HEALTH FAIRS, CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS, AND ACCESS
HEALTH & ELDERLY SERVICES NCI PROVIDES A VARIETY OF SERVICES FOR SENIOR AT OUR 20 SENIOR CENTERS, AS WELL AS HOME-DELIVERED NUTNTIOUS MEALS TO HOMEBOUND SENIORS DELIVERED EACH MONDAY-FRIDAY WEEKDAY CENTER ACTIVITIES INCLUDE A HOT LUNCHTIME MEAL, SEMINARS ON TOPICS SUCH AS HEALTH AND WELLNESS,
Choices in Education: Neighborhood Centers Inc. provides opportunities for students (birth to 8th grade) and their parents through an innovative education system that promotes quality, consistency and connection at every juncture in a child's life. Our goal is to ensure that families have access to services that ensure success in the classroom and for the rest of their lives. Our Early Head Start/Head Start program provides comprehensive child development in all-year, full-day format that supports working parents. This program serviced 2,500 infants through pre-school age children and their 3,671 parents. The Early Childhood Development Center served 111 students and 116 parents. Our Charter School offers a well-balanced education experience for 773 kindergarten through eighth grade children and 1,160 parents.
Community Based Initiatives builds on the unique economic and social assets of individuals and their neighborhoods, moving them to self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life. Largely supported by private philanthropic investment, our community-based programs engage and connect individuals to the resources that meet their emerging needs and aspirations. We provide a continuum of services including free tax preparation, family health and education, immigration and citizenship services, financial assistance and programs for youth and seniors. In 2014, we served a total of 196,638 individuals.
PUBLIC SECTOR SOLUTIONS: 11 WORKFORCE SOLUTION OFFICES SERVING 164,247 JOB SEEKERS; WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS FINANCIAL AID PAYMENT OFFICE AND WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS CHILD CARE SERVICES OFFICES PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CHILD CARE, TRAINING, TRANSPORTATION, AND OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES TO 130,692 WORKFORCE CUSTOMERS IN 60 TEXAS COUNTIES; VETERANS SERVICES PROJECT PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND CASE MANAGEMENT TO 150 HOMELESS VETERANS; COMPREHENSIVE ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDING UTILITY ASSISTANCE TO 20,159 LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS INCLUDING THE ELDERLY, DISABLED, AND LOW INCOME FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN; AND THE WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM WHICH REDUCES ENERGY CONSUMPTION FOR SENIORS AND LOW-INCOME FAMILIES THROUGH THE INSTALLATION OF ENERGY-EFFICIENT MEASURES FOR 295 HOUSEHOLDS.
PUBLIC SECTOR SOLUTIONS: OPERATES 11 OF THE 24 CAREER OFFICES AND THE FINANCIAL AID PAYMENT OFFICE FOR THE 13 COUNTY GULF COAST WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS SYSTEM AND OPERATES THE CHILD CARE SERVICES PROGRAMS FOR COASTAL BEND, DEEP EAST TEXAS, EAST TEXAS, AND RURAL CAPITAL WORKFORCE REGIONS. THROUGH WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS, 210,474 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED EMPLOYMENT SERVICES AND 125,411 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED FINANCIAL AID TO SUPPORT THEIR WORK AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT 60 TEXAS COUNTIES. THE VETERANS SERVICES PROGRAM SERVED 652 HOMELESS VETERANS; AND THE UTILITY ASSISTANCE AND WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM SERVED 34,228 INDIVIDUALS INCLUDING THE ELDERLY, DISABLED, AND LOW INCOME FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.
