Punahou Is Committed To Provide An Environment Where Students Can Develop Moral And Spiritual Values Consistent With The Christian Principles On Which Punahou Was Founded, Affirming The Worth And Dignity Of Each Individual; Develop Intellectual, Academic And Physical Potential To The Fullest Degree, Preparing Them For Higher Education And For Challenges Facing Them Now And In The Futher; Develop And Enhance Creativity And Appreciation For The Arts; Appreciate Cultural Diverstiy And Develop Social Responsibility. Founded In 1841, Punahou School Is The Largest Independent School In America. It Is A Privately Operated School Serving Children From Every Racial, Religious, Social And Economic Group In Hawaii. Punahou Has Faculty And Academic Support Staff Of Approximately 600, Serving About 3,700 Students From Kindergarten To Grade 12. The School Is Divided Into Two Major Divisions: The Junior School (Kindergarten To Grade 8) And The Academy (Grades 9 To 12), Each With Its Own Principal. In Addition, The School Is Coverned By A Volunteer Board Of Trustees, Composed Of Leading Members Of The Honolulu Professional And Business Community, With A President Heading The School'S Operations.
